PG Scholarships for Professional courses for ST SC 

Every year UGC (University Grants Commission) invites application to award Postgraduate Scholarship for professional courses from SC/ST students. The prime aim behind launching such scheme is to initiate keeping the view of the social background of candidates from the underprivileged section of the society and to offer them an equal opportunity to take PG studies in professional subjects like Management, Pharmacy, and Engineering etc. The aim of the scheme is to present SC/ST candidate with an equivalent opportunity to undertake PG level studies in Professional subjects at Indian colleges and universities.  

Candidate willing to take benefit of the scheme must hold graduation degree in the relevant subject and obtain admissible degree at the PG level in any professional subjects in renowned Colleges/Universities. The upper age limit to apply for the scholarship under the scheme is 45 years for male applicants whereas it is 50 for the female applicants. The duration of fellowship is for completion of PG. 

The amount of scholarship depends on the professional courses one choose for Post graduation for instance the amount is 5000/- per month for M.tech with the Contingency of Rs. 15000/- per annum and for other courses Rs. 3000/- per month with the contingency of Rs. 10000/-  per annum respectively. 
The application for the scholarship in a prescribed form must be sent to the Joint Secretary (SA) University Grants Commission, UGC Block, Delhi University, South Campus, Benito Juarez Marg, New Delhi-110021 duly forwarded through the university/college/institute where the candidate fellow willing to undergo PG course with one month after the date of published advertisement. 

The selection is based on merit and on the recommendations of the selection committee, formed by the commission. The decision taken by the commission is final. Direct and incomplete applications are not considered for the scholarship. Canvassing of any type will be considered as disqualification.
